1. Why so many chow's?! They're worthless, risky and only function as a filling. Sure you can get a quick Mahjong, but not so many points. Yes, I also use chow's when I need to, but not as main lines! It's only worth something if it becomes a worthless hand. 2. Why throwing away Winds and Dragon the first thing? The points from them are good and more than one time I watched my opponent throw them away sequentially, instead of getting a well worth pair through waiting. Well, it has helped me a couple of times but I still think it's *****ic. Why play low when you can play high? 3. I don't mind playing at 5sec, but it's stressed and bed for mishaps. Worst thing, is being the starter and not having enough time looking through the tiles.

Ikajo..to answer your question :-
For 5 tais table :- 1) All mixed chows (without flowers) are worth 4 tais...so if you are playing a 5 tai table and your tiles are mostly non-dragons or winds..you would discard all dragons and winds early in the game to try to make all chows and self draw for a HU. 2) Pure suit are worth 6 tais (without dragons or winds) so one would discard those tile early in the game. 3) You can request owner of table to set longer time. Hope that answers your question.

It wasen't as much some questions as a try to start a discussion. When I win, I win big time, often just one or two step behind the winner and I avoid chow's.
If I start a room and set 10s or 15s, no one want's to play!

hahahha I agree with both of you. Many players here played for xp only. I too started like you playing bigs hands only and trying to win badges. Before long I did....a 10 consequence LOSS badge
![]() So now I change my tune and just follow the flow...winning some xp while at the same time trying for an occasional badge. Most of the time is draw as other players also holding honour tiles too. So play more. Later you wonder why ppl ever played in 10s or 15s...OMG the waiting will kill ya hahahaha

I've only played in real life before. Usually we play for three or four hours, with changing rounds of course. I don't care about bagdes, I just do my best and follow the strategi I found most effective.
I can't be that bad, almost always waiting for my next last or last stone. But no one can see that so they don't know. Only proves by the amount of loss afterwards.

Playing real life mahjong is different...more so if you are playing big money. Your 1 big WIN can cover back all your small losses.
Playing 3-person Mahjong is even more exciting..lesser tiles combi and bigger hands. Also you can chat while waiting for players to make their move so not so boring. Here even if you have the time and quickness to type most of the time the conversation is covered by "YOUR TURN"...I find that irriitating as you like go "huh?" and if you do not respond it seems kinda rude. The only place I find can chat while playing is poker. Try it...

wu la la ...... this is a interesting discussion ....... different ppl got different tactic ...... for me ...... you have to play according to the tile ...... if tile too lousy i play small....if my tile good i make big big so can also win big big ....... my tactic is quite flexible but normally i lose more then win cause i play fun fun ...... not all out to win money ......
