Buffet Wars is launched on 19 Jan 2010 in Open Beta after 2 weeks of closed beta testing. There had been numerous improvements and updates to the game over the 2 weeks and we'll like to thank all beta testers for their continued efforts and feedback to the game!

Q: Where is the player guide for Buffet Wars?

Q: Why do I always get 0 XP 0 Gold and my wins not updated?
A: There is no XP, gold nor wins in the PVP channel. You will need to play in the PVE channel -- the PVP channel is for practice and friendly challenges only.

Q: When will Buffet Wars be launched?
A: 19th Jan 2010 in open beta.

Q: What is closed beta? Does that mean I can play already?
A: Closed beta means that only a small group of players will access the game to test and give objective feedback to improve the game. They are added only by invitation but will not get any unfair advantages in the game when it launches.

Q: What is open beta?
A: Open beta is a phase where there will still be active development on the game with feedback from gamers. It is open to ALL gamers.

Q: What do Magus players get?
A: Magus players will get starter packages (of items) of various levels, depending on the level achieved and cash/gold spent on the game. Please refer to this thread: http://www.viwawa.com/forums/starter...ers.12973.html

Q: What is this game about then? Similar to Magus?
A: It is not a replacement for Magus, neither is it based on Magus. Buffet Wars is of a food theme and involves team play and collaborative play. We will reveal more while the player guide is being built on.

Q: If I am not in the closed beta, will I be at a disadvantage to the beta testers who already tried the game?
A: The only advantage they have, is an earlier experience with the game. When launched, everyone starts at level 1. The game is very quick to pick up, so any advantage is minimized.

Q: I'm not in the closed beta, how would I know how to play the game when it launches?
A: The closed beta is not a learning or practise ground. It is a serious testing ground. There will be player guides for all, and the beta testers may help to guide the other players as well.

Q: I want to get more of Chilli Powder, where can I buy them?
A: Chilli Powder, Sugar and Wasabi are not for sale. They can be obtained as item drops by winning games, and can also be obtained from the daily spins in Mystic Palace in the near future.

Q: Why don't I ever get the higher level recipes?
A: The recipes are available only when a certain number of players in Buffet Wars have reached a particular level. When the game first launched, only level 1 to 10 recipes could be obtained. After a certain number of players progress beyond level 10, the level 11 to 20 recipes would be available. Similarly for recipes of level 21-30 and beyond.

Q: I want to buy recipes, where to buy?
A: Recipes are not for sale and can only be obtained as item drops by winning games. It will not be available in Mystic Palace, unlike magic items.

Q: I received alot of duplicate recipes. What are they for? Why would I want to make duplicate dishes?
A: You can bring duplicate dishes into the game for different configurations to your affinity. Also, future recipes may require lower-level dishes to create. For example, maybe a strawberry shortcake recipe in the future will need 2 strawberries. You may want to choose 2 newly created strawberries rather than sacrifice your precious Strawberry+5.

Q: My upgrade failed, why is my item back to +0??
A: Do refer to the discussion thread on item upgrading.

Q: How do I get more item drops?
A: Play in 4-player PVE mode. You will get at least 4 item drops when you win. Playing in 2-player mode will have less drops and lower XP/Gold.

Q: Are the maps any different?
A: For now, there is no difference in the available maps except for higher frequency in wind-changes for maps with relatively simpler terrains.

Q: When will the wind change?
A: It is random and cannot be predicted, but there will be a different minimum period which the current wind condition will last for each map. To help lower level players, matches with only players of level 9 and below will start the first few turns of each game with no wind.

Q: What does the crab symbol at the end of each game mean?
A: It represents the score for each player in the match, which is a sum of all bonuses from the player's shots.

One of the purposes of a closed beta is to test the load with a controlled crowd and not potentially kill every other game by allowing every player to join.

Like you said, it was the other clubs who made it to top 10 earlier and ensured that all their participants including backups attended the event that they signed up for. If your club gets into the top 10 for the future games, we will invite nominations from you too.

The beta testers are not allowed to leak the game details before the official launch as it may undergo alot of changes during this week.
